An 11-year-old boy who was hit by a car in Preston has died in hospital.
Calvin Leary was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a van at Lane Ends in Ashton at 11.40am, yesterday.
He died at 8pm in the intensive care unit at the Royal Preston Hospital.
Police said he suffered multiple injuries when he was hit by a white Volkswagen Caddy as he crossed Blackpool Road from Woodplumpton Road.
Sergeant Adrian Adams, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the accident to contact police.
“We are still trying to establish exactly what happened and I would ask anyone with any information to come forward.”
The man who was driving the Volkswagen was uninjured.
