An 87-year-old pensioner who suffered serious leg injuries when she was knocked down by a lorry in Preston last week has regained consciousness and is speaking to relatives, according to police.
The woman was hit by an Eddie Stobart lorry in New Hall Lane, last Wednesday, near the city's cemetery at Brockholes Brow.
Following the accident at about 9.30am, she was said to be in a 'serious' condition, but today police said she is improving but remains “poorly.”
Following the accident the road was closed in both directions between the cemetery at Ribbleton and the Tickled Trout Hotel, near Samlesbury.
The accident caused delays to commuters heading to and from the M6, junction 31.
