TWO thirds of major roadwork projects in England have been suspended to ease the flow of traffic this Bank Holiday weekend.
And in the North West, a number of projects are being postponed.
Derek Turner, Highways Agency network operations director, said: “The Highways Agency is doing everything it can to help drivers with their journeys.
“We have removed as many roadworks as possible and we also provide a number of information services that will help drivers.
“I urge drivers to plan their journeys using the travel information available on our website, the agency’s traffic radio and telephone information services - as well as by listening to local radio traffic bulletins.
“Drivers should check their vehicle’s tyres, oil, water and fuel before setting out and allow extra time to plan for breaks.”
Roadworks cancelled in the North West included on the A595 Parton to Lillyhall, M60 Junction 5, M56 Junction 15, A5117 between the junctions of the A550 and M56 Junction 15, M62 Junction 6 near Whiston, M57 Junction 1Near Whiston and A74 Guards Mill - M6 Junction 44 near Carlisle.
Others include M56 Junction 7 eastbound near Altrincham, A69 Haydon Bridge near Hexham and M6 junction 36.
