Police are appealing for witnesses after a man threatened a female shop assistant with a handgun in Leyland.
It happened at about 9.55pm on Sunday when a man entered Booze Brothers off-licence in Chapel Brow.
The man threatened the assistant with a handgun and demanded money; the assistant refused and told the man that the police had already been alerted.
As a result the man fled the shop and ran off along Chapel Brow.
The shop assistant was not physically hurt but has been left shocked by the robbery.
The offender is about 5ft 7ins and 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build with a local accent and wearing dark clothing.
He also had a black stocking type covering over his face.
Detective Sergeant John Cass said: "I would appeal to anybody who may have seen someone matching the description of the offender in the Chapel Brow area between 9.30pm and 10.30pm to contact police.
"I would also like speak to anybody who saw any suspicious activity in the area, even the smallest amount of information could help."
